Tina Turner, born as Anna Mae Bullock, began singing professionally as a teenager after meeting the established performer Ike Turner. With hits such as “River Deep and Mountain High,” and “Proud Mary,” they regularly appeared in the music charts and on concert stages as they ascended to stardom. Jack Robinson photographed Ike and Tina on November 25, 1969 while they were in New York on tour with The Rolling Stones. In a “People Are Taking About …” feature of Vogue, Tina is quoted “People seem to worry about how women suffer in the songs I sing. They do, but they give it back. Tina Turner, née Anna Mae Bullock, a débuté sa carrière de chanteuse professionnelle à l'adolescence après avoir rencontré l'artiste établi Ike Turner. Avec des tubes comme « River Deep and Mountain High » et « Proud Mary », elles ont régulièrement figuré dans les classements musicaux et sur les scènes de concert, accédant ainsi à la célébrité. Jack Robinson a photographié Ike et Tina le 25 novembre 1969, alors qu'ils étaient à New York en tournée avec les Rolling Stones. Dans un article de Vogue intitulé « People Are Taking About… », Tina est citée : « Les gens semblent s'inquiéter de la souffrance des femmes dans les chansons que je chante.
